Firework Safety from Thunder Pyrotechnics LLC

Picture this, it’s summer, hotdogs and burgers are on the grill, kids are swimming and running around and you’re celebrating with your friends and family. Maybe you buy some small fireworks because you want some of those adorable pictures of the kids with sparklers so you can keep the memory of their faces lit up. Maybe it’s not Independence Day that you celebrate with fireworks, maybe it’s a wedding, birthday, New Year’s Eve, whichever your event may be, we’re here to talk about being safe with fireworks.

First things first, if you have been enjoying yourself and are under the influence stay where you are! It's not worth it to lose a limb or worse. If you are sober and decide to go, get some fireworks to liven up the party, do not smoke in the vehicle or while loading and unloading the vehicle around the fireworks. NEVER light any firework, fountain, sparkler etc. while under the influence or while smoking. Make sure to have a water source and/or fire extinguisher near your lighting area.

Fireworks should ALWAYS be set off in an open area. Children should only be spectators. If you are lighting fountains, sparklers and non-aerial fireworks, have no less than 35 feet between the crowd and the fireworks. Never hold fireworks (sparklers, bottle rockets etc. You are not Superman). You can place sparklers in soda cans, tin cans or the ground. Sparklers burn at 2000 degrees which is enough to melt metal. If you are lighting aerial fireworks, have no less than 150 feet between the crowd and the fireworks. The fuse for fireworks burns quickly and at 5000 degrees. Never light fireworks while standing over them.

Always use a lighting system, flares or long stem lighter. If some of your fireworks do not go off, do NOT try to re-light them, submerge them in water after for about 20 minutes. Always wear protective gear while lighting fireworks. Safety glasses, gloves, cotton clothing, closed toe shoes, and ear protection. There are other options for safety gear the bigger you go with the fireworks, but these are a good place to start with consumer fireworks.

Remember, fireworks are explosives. They should NEVER be seen or considered as safe, even the little ladybugs. If this makes you uncomfortable, good. There is a reason that we are licensed professionals and take safety seriously. We want to make sure that firework lovers like you can safely enjoy a show. If you still want to make your kids happy, you can use things like party poppers, bubbles, silly string and glow sticks etc. The industry is creating all kinds of new things for alternatives to sparklers these days. All of these options have less to clean up after also, even the silly string.

If you’re looking for someone to create, set up, light, tear down and clean up for you. You found the right team! You can book your no strings attached FREE consultation today here! 👉 FREE Consultation
