Age is Just a Number

Age is just a number in love. We hear it all the time. I am a firm believer in this. My husband and I have a 9 year age gap. His oldest sibling is my parent's age, which makes his parents, my grandparents age. To us, it's normal. When his Dad passed, his Mom didn't know how to be single. They were married out of school and were together over 50 years. Then she met her second love. Some disagreed, some applauded her desire to be happy in love. You never know how much time you have left and why spend it alone, when you can spend it with someone who loves you back? 80 year old hunters and they got married in camouflage!

Here is their ceremony:
We are here today not for 2 deer in the great rut, but for 2 people with an unexpected love. A love as deep as the raging river, as beautiful as a sunrise on a crisp fall day and as open as the meadows. 

You are each other’s best friend. Today you give yourselves in marriage. You are promising to honor and stand by the other, encourage each moment of joy, discourage moments of sorrow and struggle. You also promise to love one another in bad and good times. 

Tom Robbins the author of Jitterbug Perfume wrote, “The highest function of love is that it makes the loved one a unique and irreplaceable being.” 

Please exchange rings and repeat after me.
