What is Employee Retention? The definition of employee is  a person employed for wages or salary, especially at nonexecutive level. The definition of retention is t he continued possession, use, or control of something or,  the fact of keeping something in one's memory or,  the action of absorbing and continuing to hold a substance or,  failure to eliminate a substance from the body.   Why is retaining employees important?  Do you know how much you're spending on each new team member? The national average is between $7,500-$28,000! That's INSANE!!! Let's break it down... Each new team member will have found your open position from a job posting that you paid for. The drug test, background check, training and onboarding again all things you are paying for. Now, let's go even further... You have to build trust! How do you build trust? Through engagement and transparency! We'll talk more about that in other posts, and if you haven't already, check out my podcast to learn even more about it! You can listen in  HERE   How important is feedback in communication? Well, constructive criticism can foster growth within your team if given at the right moment, and in the right venue. What do I mean by that? If you see a team member doing something that calls for feedback, if the situation is appropriate to discuss right away, then go ahead, however if the team member is with a customer or within a group of other team members, it...

Are you planning your company picnic and just can't figure out what's missing? You're not alone, and you've come to the right place!  As a leadership coach that specializes in team member engagement, I can truly say incorporating something as big as fireworks into your event will be more meaningful and impactful than a can koozie or small trinket with your company logo on it. I know exactly what you're thinking right now. ARE YOU NUTS?! I can claim those small trinkets and koozies as a tax right off and they get my name out there. What if I told you, you could claim the fireworks as a tax right off and get your name out there simultaneously! Are you thinking about them a little more now?  Team member engagement relies on great leadership and great leadership starts with knowing what your team wants and needs. There is one universal thing every team member wants (even if they say they don't). That is recognition. Imagine, recognizing your team for their achieve...
